Home made pond filter under $20.00 parts 2, 3 and 4.

Filters for your pond can be very costly and you would have to buy the pomp separately. In these videos I will show you how you can make one for yourself; Very easily and very inexpensive. PS. One think I think I forgot to mention was that the cotton floats so you would need a rock or something heavy to keep it down. And be advise that cotton will be soooo durty and green of you take to long to wash it or replace it. All you would need is a .00 storage bin, a .00 bag of cotton, -.00 Fish safe silicone and 3 hoes that fit your water pomp if you have one, if you don’t, you can get them at your local hardware store or on old swimming pool pomp will work just fine, That’s what I have and it does a great job.

DIY Pond Filter. Build a pond or aquarium fillter from a bucket and and a bunch of plumbing parts. The total price was less then . (not including the power head pump. I got that from ebay.) Took about 1 and a half hours to build. Not including the 2 hours spent looking for parts at the home building plumbing department.

Tip: I did the same type of filter by using a really small drill bit and drilling small holes along the circle and then using a sharp exacto knife and cutting it out, way more neater and cleaner hole.

    you have a funny accent.

Thanks for the great video. My problem is, the use of plastics & how it leaches Toxins. I dont suppose you have had the algae tested !! It wouldnt matter for gas so much. Just a thought.

  8. buddyclubs says:

i think the media pads you used are not good for the fish, it release chemicals into the water if you haven’t rinse it before used, i recommend proper filter media for the bio filter.

@scottkyba may i know how much water do you pump pump?

  12. montyloree says:

@robynbythec It looks like a lard bucket, or soap bucket

I built a similar system to what you explained…it seems that the algae isn’t being collected in the scrub pads… it’s only day 1…. should i leave it longer? I’ve made it so the water/materials must flow through the scrub pads… I’m just wondering if it needs a few days for the algae to stick to the scrub pads.. right now the algae doesn’t seem to be sticking….

    A great easy design….
    Q: did it work?
Q: how long did you need to run that to clean out your pond?

    Thanks

  16. robynbythec says:

Anybody know where to find a square/rectangle bucket used here? I’ve tried everywhere — big box stores, hardware, paint, feed stores, etc. I cannot find anything like this. Help?

  17. abdrashidqs says:

    thanks.. great video..

  18. imthevictorr says:

suggestion: go to joann’s or almost any craft store buy a 12 oz back of polyester fiber, used for stuffing pillows or dolls etc… it can fill that whole bucket and only cost 2.99

  19. stuntone says:

Check out my water clarity, let me know what you think! = )

  20. stuntone says:

Made my 1st bio-filter from your vid. It works very, very well thanks. Keep tha fish happy!

  21. alberto4991 says:

i like your design. so is the pond clean?

  22. Arteolike says:

Oh and PS, you do not have to use a square bucket, you can use a circle bucket, just use a rubber bulkhead called “uniseal’ they work great! and install in seconds! ALSO they are so so so much cheaper!

  23. 99gman says:

Bulk Heads/PVC Bulkheads…check with your local pet store, if they sale pond equipment they will most likely have your bulkheads you require in the parts section behind a counter, you will have to ask & doesn’t hurt to bring some connecting pieces. Check the Irrigation section of your Home Improvement Big Box store too…I have all my materials just haven’t gotten around to put it all together. Will let you have it runs.

  24. scottkyba says:

@Aaaa7xxxx1 Sorry, I never wrote them down. Just watch the Video and make a list.

  25. scottkyba says:

@deepestthinker It can work either way. Just like a Aquarium canister filter…. or back mounted aquarium filter.

  26. scottkyba says:

@99gman Take a picture with you. Google image search for “PVC BULKHEAD”

  27. scottkyba says:

    @phanovphloyd Good Idea…. :)

  28. scottkyba says:

@phempton They are called “Bulkheads”. I had trouble at the hardware store as well. For some reason they dont put them on the regular shelf…. Do a google image search for “pvc bulhead” nd take a icture with you.

  29. scottkyba says:

    @takenbythesky Watch the second part.

  30. scottkyba says:

@missjouxiong All the parts are shown on the video. :)
